The photographer set up everything just right,
all black as I requested. I was dressed all in black, along
with my black hair. She sat me down and proceeded to set the
lights up. I had never had a professional photo shoot before,
so I had no idea what was happening. She held a meter of some
kind up to my face, flashed a light, and then held the meter
up to my face again. That went on for quite some time, first
the meter, then the flash, then the meter again. After about
10 minutes—by now I couldn’t see—she exclaimed
in frustration that she had no idea what was wrong. For some
strange reason, she couldn’t get the light right. She
said, “I don’t get it, everything is black yet
there is too much light”.
I thought I heard a few giggles in the background,
when I realized we were the only two people in the room. I
said to her, “Well why didn’t you say so sooner.
Okay guys, I’m sorry but you’re all going to have
to leave now, there’s just too much light in the room.
Please step outside”.
Well I thought that this poor woman was going
to faint on the spot. I assured her that it was going to be
fine, and to check the light now. She held the meter up to
my face, flashed the light, and checked the meter against
my face again. With an astonished look on her face, she exclaimed,
“It’s perfect! The light is perfect”!
That was a close encounter with my clan
of Spirit Guides. The photographer was totally unaware of
just how special that moment was. All of my guides had gathered
hoping to have their picture taken—Stands Very Tall
Black Eagle Feather, my Native American Guide who teaches
spiritual path-working through me. There’s Maeve, my
Irish Druid Priestess who offers guidance and wisdom in applying
spiritual practices to everyday life. And Melanie, who gives
advice to solve problems in everyday life. Then there is Arthur,
and Nelda, my Birth Guides, who have been with me since birth
and will stay with me until I cross over. They were so proud;
I could see all of their faces beaming with anticipation.
I heard them as they shuffled out, just as happy to comply.
That’s what they’re here for, to love me unconditionally,
watch over me, offer support when needed, and ensure that
I stay on my path.
