| Ravens's 3 R's of
Readings
This is an excerpt from Raven Shine’s

Cards ©2002Raven Shine all rights reserved.
Over the years I have developed a code of ethics
for readings that I have to attribute to the training I’ve
received from teachers I have been blessed with and to the
guidance that I rely on from my guides. It is important to
acknowledge that this information comes directly from the
Universe; it is Truth for me, and I will teach it to all of
my students.
At one time I suffered from extreme panic disorder,
which left me trapped at home. Since everything happens for
a reason, I recognize that this was something I had to go
through to learn, and in turn, teach others. The panic disorder
is gone now, not from medication, not from counseling, but
from the recognition of metaphysical laws and how the Universe
works.
It is no accident that, as a sufferer of panic
disorder and knowing deeply the pain of terror at finding
my own mind out of control, I am extra sensitive to this afflicting
someone else. This is my destiny, to be a teacher of metaphysics
and to show people the way to create their own journeys, to
become masters of their own destinies. Everyone is, in some
way or another, capable of taking a seed of suggestion in
his or her mind and watching it grow into a disaster. It is
my intention for you that from this moment on you will follow
the 3 R’s of Readings as your own code of ethics. It
is my desire that you will receive the same gratification
that I do.
Thank You.
These
3 R’s are:
1. Respect – It is
essential to respect the personal space of the one you are
reading for. This includes respect for religious or non-religious
beliefs.
2. Responsibility –
It is vital to the well being of your client to be responsible
for your choice of words, your delivery of those words, and
the acknowledgment that you are also only at the human level
and not superior to any other human being.
3. Reverence – To remain
humble is essential to read for another. To honor your own
path and at the same time to honor the path of your client,
even though it may be different from your own. To recognize
that not everyone learns at the same pace, and that you cannot
learn other’s lessons for them.
Respect is essential when conducting readings.
Everyone has some kind of belief system set in place before
they come to you for a reading. If a person believes in God,
then that is who he or she is receiving guidance from; or
maybe his belief is in a Guardian Angel; or hers in her Grandfather.
Regardless of what their belief system is, people are seeking
guidance on their journey and it is up to you to interpret
their information in a way that they can absorb and comprehend.
If you try to force another belief onto someone because you
feel it is the only way for them to see things; you will not
be able to convey the information their guides have for them.
If they feel that you have respect for their beliefs, they
will listen to what you have to say, and learn from it.
Responsibility is vital to the well being of
everyone concerned. Acting in a responsible manner means not
assuming you have all the answers. Not everyone is 100% right
all of the time. One way you can act responsibly is to remain
as positive as possible because the more positive you are,
the more positive your Querent will feel. This will make room
for enlightenment to enter. Where there is negativity, enlightenment
cannot occur. Another way to be responsible is never look
for illness, loss or death in a reading. If someone wants
to know about an upsetting situation, they will ask you about
it, and that will be an opportunity to examine the positive
side, or what can be learned from, a situation. This also
makes room for enlightenment. Where there is worry, enlightenment
cannot occur.
Remember that we do not read ‘death’ in the cards.
Always take into consideration, while doing a reading, that
what you might think you are seeing as an actual event could
very well be your Querent’s worries or concerns about
the possibility of an event happening. It is vital to the
well being of everyone concerned that you be able to tell
the difference. Choose your words wisely and carefully, keeping
in mind that everyone hears things just a little differently,
and a misinterpretation can arise without your realizing it.
Based on the metaphysical principle that what we focus our
energy on is what we manifest in our lives, the result of
a misinterpretation could be tragic. If you imagine yourself
as the Flute, and that the Universe is playing its music through
you, then you are merely the instrument and the music is the
Wisdom.
Reverence is fundamental in reading for others.
Honoring your own path is obviously essential and it is actually
why you are where you are, and why you are reading for others.
Keep in mind that not everyone learns their lessons at the
same rate of growth, and therefore people will comprehend
only what they are capable of at any given time. To push,
or to expect someone to change behavior, or even to accept
what you are trying to convey before they are ready, is counterproductive.
To honor another’s path even though it is different
from yours is truly reading with reverence. Reading with reverence
is reading with wisdom.
Always remember, the Teacher is the Student,
and the Student is the Teacher. Approaching readings with
Respect, Responsibility and Reverence opens a channel from
which you can learn as well.
Blessings,
Raven Shine
